Sunrise CC destroyed Jit Singh and his boys from NYS

In-form batsman Sunesh Wazid - 84 runs
Ally Pond Park Queens New York:
Revenge cricket is not the ideal approach when playing against a former team, however, that was the motivating factor for former Sunrise player Kumar Dindial. In his quest to humiliate team Sunrise last Saturday, Dindial was dismissed for a first ball duck in NYS chase to over take Sunrise’s total of 191 all out from 30 overs. Dindial singing his mantra hard and loud before the match that he had waited a long time to come against Sunrise and today is “pay back” for being disbanded from represented Sunrise.
DeSilva, a new comer to Sunrise delivered an in-swinger pitched on off stumped, Dindial playing a flashing cover drive shot only to miss and getting rapped on his pad, Umpire Balgobin slowly raised that dreaded index finger. The diminutive Dinial bowed his head and slowly walked back to the pavilion, a walk that lasted just short of 2 minutes.

A 34 runs partnership between Robert Mahesh and Marlon Kallicharran (17) for the second wicket steadied the top order batting for NYS. In the end, in addition to Kallicharran, only top scorer Mahesh (26) and A. Baldeo (11) reached double figures. NYS captain Ramjit Singh, another former Sunrise player, was trapped LBW to DeSilva for a duck only to have his father-in-law, the umpire, give him his marching orders back to the pavilion. Jit Singh always the defiant batsman, raised his bat to the umpire as if to indicate the ball hit the bat first. Umpire Balgobin wanted no part of that and pointed captain Singh to direction of the pavilion. NYS crumbled to 83 all out from 17.3 over. Medium pacer DeSilva 3 for 33 and K. Jairam 2 for 3 were the pick of Sunrise’s bowling. Ballie, Josh Harbajan, Gaijindrah, Chris Arthur and Allon Harmacoon 1 wicket each.
Chris Arthur, a 14 years old, trainee out of the Nassau Cricket Academy, picked up his first wicket for Sunrise in only his second match. Arthur in his first over rocked E. Bacchus’ middle stumped in his only over he bowled. Chris bowling card read 1 over 4 runs 1 wicket.

Earlier, Sunrise captain Josh Harbajan won the toss and elected to bat. A decision somewhat put short scare in captain Josh as he saw Sunrise team struggling at 26 for 4 from 8 overs. In form Allon Harmocoon who destroyed Hoboken CC in the previous match with hurricane 40 runs knock, was dismissed for a duck, while S. Ballie and Vijay Persaud, 8 and 2 runs respectively, did not helped Sunrise scorecard.
It took a brilliant 120 runs partnership between Sunesh Wazid and Vicky Chin to pull things together for Sunrise. Wazid, the more experience batsman of the two, batted with controlled aggression, in the process, hitting 5 massive sixes and 4 fours. In the end, Wazid fell 16 runs short of what would have been his fist maiden century for Sunrise. However, settling for 84 runs is not a bad day in the cricket field. Chin utilized this batting opportunity for a well played 54. His first half century for Sunrise. A knock decorated with 7x4 and 1x6.
Other batsman contributing to Sunrise’s total were Josh Harbajan, Chris Arthur and DeSilva.
Bowling for NYS, captain Ramjit Singh 3 for 23 from 3 overs, while, F.Persaud and D Kevin 2 for 22, Shamer and Bazdhead 1 wicket each.
